About the Society Of Petroleum Engineers Here At USC
The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) is an international technical and professional organization dedicated to the advancement of technology associated with the recovery of energy resources. It is one of the largest technical/professional associations in the world with over 53,000 members residing in more than 50 countries.
Here at the University of Southern California, we help students build personal and professional networks by organizing a wide variety of activities. In addition to introducing our students to industry leaders, these events also allow our students to stay informed as to the latest technologies being developed and implemented in the field.
Through the academic year, USC SPE will become involved in events such as: the ATCE 2009 in New Orleans, Louisiana; a field trip to an operational off-shore drilling rig, a campus demonstration of a logging truck operation, and numerous technical talks from industry personnel. We encourage all students to get involved, whether they are engineers or not. Our main goal is to serve the students and create beneficial opportunities for them. We help the leaders of tomorrow meet the leaders of today.
If you are interested in learning more, feel free to visit SPE's official website.
If you are interested in joining SPE, please contact any one of our current officers OR visit SPE's join page to join for free. Chevron is a sponsor of the Society of Petroleum Engineers so poor students like us can enjoy the benefits of membership! (Which include incredible discounts on all SPE technical conferences!)
